  1. Hey guys, big fan of this show and the rest (especially Coder Radio).
  3. I wanted to chime in on a rather personal note on the topic of mental illness. I live in Australia, I'm 19 and have been diagnosed with two different chronic depression disorders, with a side effect of anger issues.
  5. There are two points I wanted to bring up. Firstly, my biggest problem is self-harm, there are situations where I completely lose control and lash out at (usually) myself. I don't think it's out of the question that if firearms were so ridiculously easy to acquire where I live, that perhaps suicide attempts wouldn't have just been attempts.
  7. Secondly, I can't speak for everyone but reaching out to a professional and getting help was extremely difficult for me to do and it was only after I was hospitalised with heart problems due to anxiety that I ended up seeing a psychologist. The more the media makes people be afraid of those diagnosed with disorders, the more having a disorder on your record becomes an issue, the scarier it becomes for people who need help to get help (and I can't imagine being forced into it would have anywhere near the same result).
  9. Mental health is a complex issue and I worry for those who don't have the support network I have.
  11. Keep up the good work,
  12. Russell
