  1. Hey guys,
  3. I'm currently still in school studying for a bachelors InfoSec degree.
  4. In most of my spare time I participate in hacking challenges and playing around with (mainly OpenBSD now) servers.
  6. Ultimitatly my goal is to become some sort of "cyber security consultant", a big part of that is still network security. And a big part of network security is servers.
  8. Now I like free software but the world is big bad and cruel, and thus not running solely on free software. What I'm wondering is, how relevant is free software like OpenBSD and its associated projects in the "enterprise world"?
  10. I know there is companies like MTier and iXsystems, but what about the other big tech firms?
  12. I wonder if investing my time learning (in-depth) about free software like PF is worth it, and that I'm not going to be stuck using Juniper/Barracuda/Cisco stuff my entire life.
