  1. I heard the reply from Allan and Chris this morning.
  2.
  3. At the end of it all everything they described is was exactly what I did already.
  4.
  5. The solution/idea provided to me was to use the pre-built package from the freenas repo.
  6.
  7. The Link to the Documentation ( ie. the blog post ) states to use that pre-build package.
  8.
  9. All the work that I've done in the initial email was from a prebuilt package that Allan and Chris suggested to use.
  10.
  11. To be clear, I didn't install BTSync from source or make my own custom jail in freenas to run BTSync. I used the package from the get go that you download in the freeNAS GUI.
  12.
  13. The main issue is that when a NULLFS mount from the freeNAS GUI is setup, the BTSync application (which is a webGUI on another IP address) says the following:
  14.
  15. Bittorrent Sync cannot identify the destination folder.
  16.
  17. Even when the folder has been created by me in the jail where the process is running.
  18.
  19. Also i'll truncate some of the initial logs that I sent to clear up some of the confusion they had:
  20.
  21. You'll see I start by listing the jails I have running on the NAS.
  22.
  23. [root@freenas] ~# jls
  24.    JID  IP Address      Hostname                      Path
  25.      1  -               btsync_1                      /mnt/tank/jail/btsync_1
  26.
  27. Then on the HOST (the freeNAS) a showing of the id numbers for the user called "btsync"
  28.
  29. [root@freenas] /mnt/tank/jail/btsync_1# id btsync
  30. uid=817(btsync) gid=817(btsync) groups=817(btsync)
  31.
  32. Then later on I log into the Jail
  33.
  34. [root@freenas] /mnt/tank/jail/btsync_1# jexec 1 tcsh
  35.
  36. Then I do another showing of the id number for the jail user called "btsync"
  37.
  38. root@btsync_1:/ # id btsync
  39. uid=817(btsync) gid=817(btsync) groups=817(btsync)
  40.
  41. So what they said about having the same users in both location is correct. I did that already.
  42.
  43. With the additional information and clarification I've provided, is this a File permissions use?
  44.
  45. If Allan and Chris don't know that's fine and I'm thankful for there time. Do you recommend that I send this along to a mailing list or somewhere else?
  46.
  47. (I've already posted on the freeNAS forums with the same output)
  48.
  49.
